Dr. Melissa Magallanes

Founder | Clinical Psychologist

Bio

Dr. Magallanes has worked across diverse settings including community mental health, Regional Centers, private practice, university disability services, and medical institutions such as Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and City of Hope. She has extensive experience conducting comprehensive psychological, neuropsychological, and specialized autism assessments. She is a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR and somatic experiencing.

She works with individuals across the lifespan (3 months to 90 years old) and specializes in complex cases related to autism spectrum disorder, intellectual developmental disorder, and ADHD, frequently supporting local Regional Centers with assessments, eligibility determinations, and consultation. Dr. Magallanes is deeply passionate about ensuring families feel heard, supported, and confident throughout the assessment process.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, reading, listening to podcasts, and creating meaningful memories with family and friends.

Dr. Alyssa Tassone

Psychological Associate

Bio

Dr. Tassone earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego. She has clinical experience working with colleague students at USC, Saddleback College, and Job Corps. Her commitment to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum began during her undergraduate studies at UCLA and includes volunteer work with Special Olympics and two years as an ABA therapist.

She currently conducts developmental neuro assessments through the San Gabriel/Pomona and Inland Regional Centers in coordination with Dr. Magallanes. Her therapy work focuses on helping adults navigate life transitions—such as changes in identity, relationships, and sexuality—while addressing anxiety, stress, and self-esteem through mindfulness-based approaches. She is passionate about helping others find their voice and reach their fullest potential, supporting clients in living lives that feel authentic, empowering, and aligned with their true selves.

Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family and two dogs, listening to audiobooks, and exploring new restaurants.

Dr. Gar Avanessian

Psychological Associate

Bio

Dr. Garooneh Avanessian, often referred to as Dr. Gar, is a psychological associate with a strong background in assessment and therapy. Her clinical experience includes private practice, Regional Centers, and hospital-based neuropsychology programs, with a particular emphasis on autism spectrum and developmental assessments.

She integrates cognitive-behavioral and humanistic approaches to create a respectful, empowering, and culturally mindful therapeutic environment. Dr. Gar is passionate about helping individuals gain clarity, confidence, and connection through both therapy and diagnostic insight, bringing a relational, strengths-based lens to her work across the lifespan.

As a bilingual clinician fluent in Armenian, she is committed to providing accessible, culturally attuned care that honors each client’s background and values. She takes pride in helping individuals and families feel understood and supported throughout their journey.

Outside of work, Dr. Gar enjoys spending time with loved ones and her two dogs, and values balance, connection, and joy in all aspects of life.

Dr. Alejandra Gonzalez

Psychological Associate

Bio

Dr. Gonzalez has extensive experience in health psychology, providing behavioral health consultation, therapy, and neuropsychological assessment across diverse medical settings including Hoag, Providence, and MemorialCare hospitals. She has worked collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care across the lifespan.

She also has experience conducting neurodevelopmental assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, with a focus on understanding cognitive, emotional, and functional strengths and needs. Dr. Gonzalez is committed to ensuring individuals and families feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the evaluation process.

Her work is grounded in a systems-based approach that integrates biological, psychological, and social factors to understand each individual’s experience. She aims to collaboratively engage individuals and their families to promote holistic well-being.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and going on small adventures with her dog.

Administrative Assistant

Bio

As the first voice you hear when calling Calm PATH, Jen is warm, welcoming, and dedicated to supporting both our clinicians and the families we serve. She ensures the behind-the-scenes operations run smoothly so clients receive the highest level of care and attention.

Jen has over a decade of experience in healthcare, bringing a strong attention to detail and a deep commitment to compassionate, client-centered support. Her background includes animal healthcare, where she served as a veterinary technician, pharmacy technician, and hospital manager—experiences that reflect her passion to serve the community and drive to to learn and grow.

Outside of work, Jen enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to her high school sweetheart, a proud mother of three, and lives in a 101-year-old Craftsman home that keeps her busy with projects and charm. She values holistic care and brings a balanced, mindful approach to both her personal and professional life.
